on my last week in Korea, i went to my friend's house and tried to experience high school there :)
well...i'm not high schooler again and it was 3 years ago since i was in high school..hahaha but i just wanted to try it. i heard that korean education system was super difficult because students have to stay at school until 10 pm before going home or dormitory to continue study agaiiiin~~
and of course, i've seen many korean dramas with high school background and it's seems interesting. haha, so i asked my friend (Juyeong) whether i could go and try 1 day experience at her school. surprisingly, when she asked her teacher, they agreed with it and the school's director asked me to prepare presentation and it's seems like a big issue.
but it was fun!! super fun!
i prepared the presentation and finished it right in the night before i had to go to school. so since the morning, i follow my friend to go to her school, and already met many people :). super cute..haha. they were high school student and in that age when you all excited and funny. i met many new friends here, and they were nice. gave chocolates, candy, then even dancing to infinite's song 'Paradise' in the middle of biology class. the teacher is super nice :))). they know that i like infinite so during the break time they play 'the chaser' alot from the speaker..hehehe.. it was super fun, one girl even dancing to 'shock' from Beast because i like beast alot. hehehehe..
i met funny girls hehhe..they all super nice, and asking me about many things (Jihee was super funny). even they prepared alot because when i came, they greet me with 'apa kabar?' and write a welcoming greetings on the chalk board.
the 'shock' performance, playing bubble at the night self-study time, take a standing table if you sleepy (so you won't sleep)
study time (korean literature), the copy of the class material, lunch, got drinks as treat for our class, library, cleaning time, my temporary desk.
discussion time (about indonesia, Kaist, culture, korea, my experience, etc), dormitory
my presentation was.....hhahaha..i prepared it, yeah i think it was quite nice and it seems that they were excited. i explain about indonesia, the delicious food, the fruit, the 'r' pronunciation in indonesia and give them a 'ular melingkar diatas pagar mutar-mutar' challenge, emphasized that bali is located in indonesia (which is the fact that many koreans don't know at all, they just know bali), how's korea in my eyes, etc.
also, my friend brought the hijabs we gave to her when she visited indonesia and then let others try to wear hijab (hijab experience), it's so nice, they look pretty on it...envy!..and what funnier was the male teacher also tried it on! hahahaha..it was fun.
i also went to the special class (for mentally down student), and they were super cute~~ ah...
during the class, i participated in korean literature class (read some paragraph), just stay still in math class (totally forget everything), trying to remember things on biology class, draw my new friend's face as they request it during english class, and draw teacher during geography class. and then give the drawing to her. hahaha...oh..all the female teacher there was very young. or looks young. nice.
we also got patbingsu and eat it while watching funny videos on screen at class. hehhehe
when the dinner time was coming, Juyeong told me that the menu tonight is pork, so we went outside to eat dinner~~ with Jihyeon also!~
so basically the day in korean high school was like this. they come to school before eight. class starts at eight. and have a lunch break at 1-2 pm. and each subject was only 1 hour each period and have at least 5 minutes break before the next class. then continue study until 4. and there's cleaning time...around this time, there's some students go home, because they won't attend the night study (because their house is too far from school and they don't stay at the dorm, or for some students that have another activity like if they're athlete or something, they will practice in other place). then we have dinner time (about until 7). then they'll attend the night study. basically it's a self-study time until 10 pm, but some of them who really want to get a high grade or really study hard type of student will take an additional class during this time (math and english), and other student will stay at their class and do self-study. or sleep, etc..when i was there, some of them was sleep and some was study, some was playing bubble...and listening to music. the teacher will walk around the corridor to make sure the student wasn't playing around or else.
at ten, the school is finish, and you can go home or go to dorm. usually, if you want to live in a dorm, you have to maintain your grades, if you fail you'll be kicked out from the dorm. dang!..so they have that report board in the dorm, and the dorm staff will evaluate it. for the dorm student, they have to study again at dorm after go back from school, until 2 pm....usually. wow..and if you stay at home, you have to do that too, but it's more flexible, it's just the student is worry if they don't study, or their parents will tell them to study so they will do it anyway..
and they really a hard worker. they really study hard, because the university you attend is like deciding your future........hmmm...
ps: when we was at math class, the teacher was mad and then walked out from the class.....heol..super scary. but then juyeong's asked the teacher after the class, and she said that it's because some students were trouble maker and didn't study hard....hehehe...nice experience to me..got that scary atmosphere at class. hahaha
oh at 8 pm, me and students from VANK club had a discussion. they asked about many things, around korea, kaist, indonesia, culture, etc. it was nice discussion. they asked me what is the most shocking things in korea for me and i told them that drinking culture is super shocking. hehehe...they all also curious about how kaist students study, and how's their english, hohoho. also about indonesia and the hijab i wear, why can't eat pork, etc. they also asked my ideal type...=_=.....of course i answer 'yoseob' hahhahahaha...
they even curious whether i want to live in korea or not..so i answer 'of course i want!! i don't want to go hooome T_T' and one of the student said ' then live in korea!!!' hahahahahha...
but yeah, the english teacher said..'why do you want to live in korea? isn't the living cost is high?'..'yup super expensive, but i want....huhuhuhu' and the other teacher suggest me to marry korean and asked me 'is it okay if you marry korean?'..'it's okay but we have to have a same religion'.
then i also tell them about my neighbor that marry korean guy and the korean guy is become muslim and that teacher said 'then you can do it...' hahhahaha..but how come? i even haven't meet yoseob personally, how can i? hahhaah
they also asked me to sing indonesia song.....in the end they asked me to sing indonesia national anthem..hahahha super awkward. then they sang their school anthem as exchange. hahaha
this day was super long, and super fun! i mean, they're all super funny, and nice. just like girls from drama. cute!.. and they're really welcome..
the next day i went to E-world (amusement park) with Juyeong, Yebin (her chairmate) and shiljang Hebin (the class leader). we were already tired just after ride some games. so we went back, and eat chicken, then go to hair salon. at hair salon i met the funny friends from school, Jihee.....she's super funny!!! oh even yesterday she came to see my presentation although she wasn't the member of our class actually. she's super funny!
ride a cable car, ate at restaurant on the top of the tower...so it was super expensive =_=...even worse because juyeong didn't let me to pay...=_=..but the food was nice. huho
i didn't take many pictures at E-world. we took some pictures with juyeong's camera. and i forgot to copy it. hehe....it was himdeuro...yet super fun! we recover from the tiredness by visiting trick museum. hehehe..
oh it reminds me..i will ask her to send the pictures hehehehe.....
