Wow gak tuh. Jadi kegiatan gw pas musim panas kemarin bener-bener pagi ke perpus, baca buku, siang makan di kantin, baca buku ...

Reminders

When someone asks me how I become fond of the Korean language, I kind of confused because it is a long story. Well, not really. But it started since I was an elementary school kid. I bought cute notebooks for my class, and when I used them, I found that they have these really cute writings. There are circles, squares, lines, and it looks just so cutely organized. I was curious what was it. I was familiar with Japanese writings as I was a huge fan of anime and manga. And I've seen Chinese writings as well. After some time, I learned that it was Korean writings, make sense, lots of cute stationery is coming from Korea. I really like the shape and the structure of hangul, so at that time, I just copied what was written on the notebook many times. And that was my first encounter with the Korean language.

Then I learned Korean more properly. At that time, I was fascinated by the story of the hangul invention, and how each letter is well thought of. So I just fell for it deeper.

Fast forward, I was living with my friend back in Delft, she was learning hangul calligraphy and had this training book. So I borrowed them and practiced as well. My friend was an angel, so after seeing me practicing hard, she gave me pens to write the calligraphy as a gift. I tried and tried again for some time. On and off.

And then I found one of my babies, Procreate. So I started to also make Korean calligraphy using it. There is this comforting feeling when I'm looking at Korean calligraphy. It just feels different than alphabet calligraphy for me. I think because most of the calligraphy I saw always has comforting messages. So it kinda influences it in some way I guess. So when I write the calligraphy, I also always choose comforting words or sentences that I found. And lately, it becomes a sort of therapy to write it and read it.

Here are some of them

"Don't forget that happiness is closer than you think. When you see it, happiness is not coming from a huge thing, but from simple things. Don't doubt it, trust your self"

(It is from YoungK's message to My Day)

"Everything will pass"

"Slowly"

"You are a precious person"

I hope you can also enjoy these 'reminders' 😊
