Wow gak tuh. Jadi kegiatan gw pas musim panas kemarin bener-bener pagi ke perpus, baca buku, siang makan di kantin, baca buku ...

Last days of 2020 playlist and my interpretation of ‘Alone in this world’ by Young K and Song Heejin

Here i’ll some of the songs I’ve repeated over and over in the last days (or months) of 2020.

I didn’t have any intention to make the playlist so mellow but somehow it is >.< (emojinya sok imut)

  • Vincent, starry starry night cover by Shin jihoon
  • 10.000 hours cover by Young K and Wonpil
  • Alone in this world by Young K and Song Heejin
  • Is it by Young K
  • Say hello to me by Okdal
  • Shine by DRIPPIN
  • SO BAD by STAYC
  • Maniac cover by Young K and Lucy
  • A thought n an autumnnight by Jannabi
  • What this world is coming to by Nate Ruess
  • Bye my first by NCT dream
  • Rainbow by Kasey Musgraves
If you haven’t listen to ‘starry starry night’ cover by Shin jihoon, you have to! Her voice is just so calming and fit the song just like a custom leather gloves made by luxurious handmade company in Italy. What I mean is it is just amazing. Her songs style these days is just perfectly perfect match with her overall vibe. And this particular cover is just soooo calming, I usually listen to it at night (you know starry starry night)

and then I will continue to ‘Alone in this world’ by Young K and Song heejin. The song is an ultimate sad sad song, and I especially like the part in the end where the man sings ‘you were my light in the sea’ and the woman sings ‘but you weren’t my light in the sea’ together..ugh. Also I think this song has a infinite possibilities of interpretations. I myself imagining a story while I listen to the song. For me the song can be about a boy who is abandoned by his mom, in a rainy days he was just left there in the street. The color of the scenes are blue and dark, the scenes keep changing from the confused face of the boy and her mom walking while push her feet heavily and hardly to the paving stones with a cold emotionless face.

That is why he sings:

What we had
You say it’s gone
Maybe you can’t see
There’s still more to me

Goodbyes don’t mean
Nothing to me
I’m not ready
To be

Alone in this world
Can’t believe you’d leave me in the rain, with no place to call home
Only surrounded by pain
Alone in this world
You promised you’d stand by me
Through all of the storms
You were my light in the sea
Where are you now

It’s like he was with his mom all his life, but one day his mom just couldn’t have it anymore because she herself has this wounded heart, so she left him. He somehow feels guilty to ‘ruin’ his mom’s life and also he feels as if he is a burden to her.

On the other side, the wounded heart i talked about is that when the boy hasn’t born yet, the father left the mom just like that. It was just that their relationship turned cold and he couldn’t handle the pressure of being in the relationship. (I imagine they were young...) so she said this:

You say you loved
You say you tried
But to me you were
Nothing but a lie

What we had
It’s been going on all in your head

Even your kisses felt so cold
No I don’t think I would call it love
All this time
I thought I was

Alone in this world
Can’t believe you left me in the rain, with no place to call home
Only surrounded by pain
Alone in this world
You promised you’d stand by me
Through all of the storms
But you weren’t my light in the sea

And it is actually towards the father who has been gone. Life is just rough and hard for her, adding up the pain and struggle she had to raise the boy. But one day she just couldn’t do it anymore, she was just hurt, and couldn’t provide enough for her boy so she left her in front of the orphanage.

So I actually feel the pain like 100 times more because I was imagining this scenario on my head, like the confused boy and he waits for his mom, hope that she will come back cause she was the light of the sea for him. But the mother is too hurt from her past and need to be rational for the future of her kid (as she couldn’t provide for him). Listen to the song while imagining it feels like you got an airbag inside your chest and it got bigger, makes it hard for you to breath because the airbag filled up inside your chest, painful and hard to breath, but invisible to other people. WHUWH

Okay so that is my interpretation for the great song, one of the best song I’ve heard this year, ‘Alone in this world’ by Young K and Song Heejin. The lyrics was just on point, coming to your heart like a cold arrow, and the voices of the singers were amazing, I could feel the pain all the way from South Korea to Indonesia you know...Young K’s voice is just so versatile and he can match with any any voice companion, and he will make it work. Every single time. On the other hand, it was my first time knowing about Song Heejin and gosh her voice in this song is like a beautiful thin glass that could break any time and hurt you right away, the blood..the blood on your finger, it just hurts so bad, it’s beautiful and hurtful at the same time. Wuw, you see how much I love the song and their voices here??!

Ok back to the playlist———-

Not to say I really was being spoiled this year with tons of cover and demo by Young K, and I just can’t get enough of it, I just listened to them over and over again. I have my favs, but the last months I keep on listening to ‘10.000 hours’ cover by Young K and Wonpil, ‘Maniac’ cover by Young K and Lucy and ‘Is it’ by Young K (besides the almighty ‘alone in this world’).

This year is truly the year of Korean drama for most people but I actually don’t watch a lot of them this year, but recently I’m watching ‘Hush’ and the soundtrack by Okdal is just topping the work theme song for me. Love it.

I also enjoy ‘So Bad’ by STAYC. I must say they are the most anticipated girl group debut for me after all these years. All of them are just main vocalist class, on top of that all are just main visual class, and the song is just so Kpop, you know feeling so nostalgic with the peak kpop vibe. And I also listen to ‘Bye my first..’ by NCT dream, just chill song that you can enjoy any time, I must say B-side tracks of NCT are just the best. Aaaand I also found a gem, ‘Shine’ by DRIPPIN....must listen. It is very warm and calm and relaxing vibe, just like talking and laughing with your friends around the campfire.

And then I also listen to ‘A thought on an autumn night’ by Jannabi. After starry starry night, alone in this world, this one is the next song to play to complete the vibe~

Beside those I also enjoy ‘What this world is coming to’ and ‘Rainbow’. The feel of both songs are just so nice and somehow ‘raw’ that it just seeps through your heart. It is like feeling my heart with a warm tea. Peppermint tea for ‘What this world is coming to’ and chamomile tea for ‘Rainbow’

Alright, those are the songs I listened to for the last days of 2020, go listen to them if you haven’t!
